Review and Criticize Websites

AGENDA:

  • Tell me about it
  • Review CSS
  • Present Websites and Criticize them
  • Go over new project as a class
  • Go over FTP
TELL ME ABOUT IT:
  • What do you remember about CSS? How do you create and ID? How do you create a CLASS? What is the CSS syntax? How do you link an HTML page to a CSS page? (10 min)
CLASSWORK:
  1. Review CSS as a Class: In your groups review one element of CSS and be ready to present it to class on a power point presentation. This can be anything on CSS that you want to remind the class on. (20 min)
  2. Present personal websites. You need to have your USB with you. You will be getting credit for presenting. Be ready to explain how you created your CSS page. (20 min)
  3. Discuss new project as a Class. We will talk about the type of project you would like to do. I know CSS is hard, so i want to give you an opportunity to decide on your project. We will come up with guidelines as a class for the project. (30 min)
  4. Go over FTP (file transfer protocol).

  • Go to your grades and see what assignments you are missing. Email me the missing assignments and decide which ones you will complete today.
CLASSWORK: You have the option of creating a personal website of anything you want or making up work that you are missing in this class.

  • If you had one hour out of the week to create your own individual technology project in class, what would you work on? Is there something about technology that interest you? what is it?
CLASSWORK: Today we are going to try something new. We will see how you guys do. FIREWORKS drop down menu. Find a tutorial that teaches you how to create a drop down menu. Create roll overs with drop down menus. The menus can be anything you want and link to any websites you want. If you dont know what i am talking about, check out this link Drop Down Menu.

TELL ME ABOUT IT: (10 min)
Do you understand CSS Better? What have you learned about CSS up to this point? Be specific in your answer. Are the leaders helpful? How have they helped you?

Leaders: What have you learned while helping your group members? Email me a link to your Blog!

CLASSWORK: Continue working on your HTML personal page. The leaders will continue helping you. Today you are to finish styling your personal page using CSS. By the end of the class you need to have all the requirements from Monday done. You will also add the requirements for today. I will come around in 60 (9:10 am) minutes to check your website and give you a grade.

1. Add a border to the entire site.
2. Add a border-bottom property to your H1 selector (only under your name). Not to all your H1 selectors.
3. add a font-weight property of BOLD to all your strengths.
4. Create a banner for your site. The banner can say anything you want. Add the banner to your site.

LECTURE: Today Juan Diaz and Edgardo will show you how to set up margins and floats (make sure you take notes). I will Teach you about descendants elements.

LEADERS: Make sure they get the website done perfect !!!

Styling your page with CSS

AGENDA:

  3. Start styling in CSS
  4. FINISH Styling CSS
TELL ME ABOUT IT: (10 min)
How do you link a css page to your html page? Where do you put the LINK element? How do you save a CSS page?

CLASSWORK: Continue working on your HTML personal page. The leaders will continue helping you. Today you are to finish styling your personal page using CSS. By the end of the class you need to have the following done in CSS.

1. A separate CSS document named "personalpage.css".
2. Three different background colors on each of the DIV.
3. Each DIV needs to have a different class name.
4. All links need to be able to be hoover with different colors.
5. A background image that repeats vertically on the left hand side of the page.
6. Your list of Strengths need to have their own unique color and style of font.
7. All content needs to be centered.

Leaders: Keep helping your group and .....
1. Create a Banner for your Blog using fireworks. It would be cool if you can animate it.
2. Add your banner to your blog.
3. Blog about the following by creating a new post: What do you think is the hardest about learning css? Find 3 pages that give you tutorials about CSS and blog about them on your blog. Give me details about what the page contains and what you have learn on that page.
4. After you are done with your blog, put together a small power point presentation on Descendant Selectors,Floats, Margins, and on how to position a background image. Make sure you know how to explain them , you might have to present to the class with another leader.
