AGENDA 6/16/08: This is our last week together, so let us enjoy it!!

Your grades have been updated. Check your grades. After you have checked your grades, start working on your project. Today is a working day, all we are doing is finishing the projects. AIM FOR AN "A" IN YOUR AD, this way your grade will not come down. What do you think it will take in order for you to get an "A" in your ad? Copy and answer the question in your email and email it to me.

Create the first two scenes in your ad. Wednesday you might not have time to finish it. You will present on thursday, your final will be base on your commercial and presentation. Pay attention to what you are learning while creating your ad, you will be asked about it during the presentation.

What is your slogan? How do you plan to show it visually? Who are you going to target, the kids or the parents? by the way tell me something new you learned on your field trip yesterday.

CLASSWORK: After you are done with your Tell me about it, start working on your ad. Make sure you complete the following activities!!


Activity 1:
Find three images that you can use in your ad.

Activity 2:
Manipulate 2 of those images in fireworks in order to make them look the way you like.

Activity 3: Create your first scene of the flash ad. In another words, add the background and still images of your add. For example: if there are clouds in your add, draw the clouds out and the sky.

Reflection and Flash Test!!

AGENDA 6/5/08: Today you will have a test! The test is worth 50 pts. I will explain it after the tell me about it.

TELL ME ABOUT IT: Make sure you answer in complete sentences.(10min)
  • What non-technology skills did you learn while doing the Animo Pat Brown project? Think about the entire process of creating the ad. Maybe there were some obstacles you had to overcome or you were challenge in a different ways. Make sure you answer is at least a paragraph.

CLASSWORK: Today you will have a flash test. The test is hands on. You will be able to use the internet as a resource but not your classmates. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE ANYONE TALKING WHILE DOING THE TEST. Is it going to be hard? Maybe, only you know that!!

Project: Do the following TEST. Please be quite and independent while you do the following exercises. The exercises are all part of a collective TEST. This is a hands on test. I will explain exactly what to do in about 10 minutes. Be ready to take notes and ask questions to clarify any misunderstandings.
  1. (15 pts) Write a one page reflection paper on your Animo Pat Brown Ad. Make sure to include answers to the following questions. What would you do different next time you do a flash project? Why? How would you plan a flash project in the future? Do you feel your project was done in a professional manner? why or why not? What was the message you were trying to convey in your project? If you did not have a message, why didnt you have a message? What was the most difficult part of creating the Ad Project? Make sure you use paragraphs, good grammar, and no mispelled words.
  2. (15 pts) Create a new flash document and name it "bee_guide". Find a small bee on the internet. Use a motion guide to control the bee in your flash movie. The bee needs to fly up, come back down, go back up and make a loop in the air. Give your canvas a black background and add a cloud to your canvas. Publish your movie as a .swf file.
  3. (10 pts) Create another file and name it "triangle". You will create a shape tween using a triangle and a rectangle. You will make your triangle convert into a rectangle. Save it and publish it as a .swf file.
  4. (10 pts) Create a new file and name it "Text tween". You will add a shape tween to your text. Your First word should be ANIMATION your second word should be FLASH. Tween the word ANIMATION into the word FLASH. Make sure your words are creative, not just plain text!!
  5. ( 15 pts) Create a new file and name it "gradient_tween". You will Add a gradient tween to the words "ANIMO PAT BROWN". You will make the gradient move from the left to the right hand side of the words. You will also add a REPLAY button to the end of the movie.
  6. (10) Find a tutorial on how to add music to your flash project and rewrite the tutorial in a word document. Do not copy and paste, make sure you write it in your own words.
  7. Add the end of all this activities, you should have 6 different files. You are required to make a new folder inside your personal folder on the server and name it "flash test". Save all your files inside the flash test folder.
  8. After you are done with your Flash Test, please be quite until everyone is done. You may fix your Ad project if you like. I will give you 15 more pts for your project. Remember the percentage is very important.

Project: You will create a 20 sec. flash ad (commercial) for APB. Your audience consist of middle school students and parents. The objective of the ad is to persuade them to come to our school (not to scare them away enrique!). Today you will accomplish the following.
  1. Add the images you manipulated last week in fireworks into your ad.
  2. Add the replay button to your ad.
  3. Add a gradient tween to your ad.
  4. Finish your first draft today!! you will present it on Monday. Make sure that your ad is telling a story. Every ad tells a story.
  5. Extra pts if you add a music sound to your flash!
  6. Using google, find a tutorial on how to add sound to your flash movie and do it. Make sure you do this on the last 45 minutes of class. YOU SHOULD BE DONE WITH YOUR AD. if you are not, what are you waiting for?

  • Publish the motion tween (put it on the server) you created yesterday. This is the one you were suppose to do for the first activity during class.
  • Define the following terms. Tell me what they do and their differences. Key Frame, Blank Key Frame, Unpopulated Frames, Frames in white, and Frames in Gray area. Do activity 1 and 2 after you are done with the tell me about it.
CLASSWORK: I will grade the projects based on completion and creativity.
  1. Create a shape tween using text. Your movie must be at 20fps. Put a stop action on the 20th frame. After you are done with the text tween, start doing activity two.
  2. Do the following tutorial Creating A Flash Button. Put the button on frame 20 of the above project. You will have 30 minutes to create both projects. You have that amount of time in order for you to practice and be creative with your project. The more creative the project is, the more pts. you will receive. Do not waste time, i will not extend the timeline. The project needs to be on the server by 1:15pm today. Save your project, name it Txt_tween and put it on the server.

  • Who is your group leader? Have you guys decided who will be in charge of the different task for the business website? Did you do a to do list on your site proposal?
CLASSWORK: I will grade this website very hard, we have more than enough time to make great websites. If everyone works hard, i might give an extension, depending on your progress.
  1. Finish working on Site Proposal
  2. Start and Finish at least the first sketch for your website.
    Make sure that you put thought into the sketch. Talk to your group members and decided as a group.

CLASSWORK: Continue working on your HTML personal page. The leaders will continue helping you. Today you are to finish styling your personal page using CSS. By the end of the class you need to have all the requirements from Monday done. You will also add the requirements for today. I will come around in 60 (9:10 am) minutes to check your website and give you a grade.

1. Add a border to the entire site.
2. Add a border-bottom property to your H1 selector (only under your name). Not to all your H1 selectors.
3. add a font-weight property of BOLD to all your strengths.
4. Create a banner for your site. The banner can say anything you want. Add the banner to your site.

LECTURE: Today Juan Diaz and Edgardo will show you how to set up margins and floats (make sure you take notes). I will Teach you about descendants elements.

Styling your page with CSS

How do you link a css page to your html page? Where do you put the LINK element? How do you save a CSS page?

CLASSWORK: Continue working on your HTML personal page. The leaders will continue helping you. Today you are to finish styling your personal page using CSS. By the end of the class you need to have the following done in CSS.

1. A separate CSS document named "personalpage.css".
2. Three different background colors on each of the DIV.
3. Each DIV needs to have a different class name.
4. All links need to be able to be hoover with different colors.
5. A background image that repeats vertically on the left hand side of the page.
6. Your list of Strengths need to have their own unique color and style of font.
7. All content needs to be centered.

1. Create a Banner for your Blog using fireworks. It would be cool if you can animate it.
2. Add your banner to your blog.
3. Blog about the following by creating a new post: What do you think is the hardest about learning css? Find 3 pages that give you tutorials about CSS and blog about them on your blog. Give me details about what the page contains and what you have learn on that page.
4. After you are done with your blog, put together a small power point presentation on Descendant Selectors,Floats, Margins, and on how to position a background image. Make sure you know how to explain them , you might have to present to the class with another leader.

  2. Strengths and Weaknesses List
  3. A List of 3 of your favorite sites
  4. Three DIVISIONS in your html. Use the DIV tag to divide your html page into 3 parts.
  5. Assign Classes to your DIV elements. Remember this is in your HTML code.
  6. A LINK element in your HTML code with a path to a css document named "personalpage.css"
