10/1/07 FIRST DRAFT IS DUE

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!
  1. Choose a partner among your group members. You will work together to review each others first draft. He/She will work with you through out the entire project.
  2. With your partner discuss the following: a.) what was the hardest about writing the first draft? b.) how was it different from writing other essays? and c.) How can you improve your first draft?
  3. Email his/her name and a summary of your partners responses.

IN CLASS ACTIVITY!!

  1. Start typing your first draft on word. If you already have it typed, revise your first draft before you give it to your partner. name your first draft "name First Draft".
  2. Remember to read their essay critically. If the essay does not keep your attention, than it might be wise for him/her to keep working on it.
  3. Use track changes to give your partner suggestions on how to make it better. Look out for the thesis, topic sentences, 5 paragraphs, incomplete sentences, misspelled words, organization and any other writing mistakes.
  4. The Document with the track changes that you are working on for your partner should be name "edited by name".

PDF SNAP SHOT!!

  1. You will learn how to create a snap shot using Adobe Acrobat. You will use the snap shot as part of your digital portfolio.
THE DIGITAL PORTFOLIO WILL BE DUE ON MONDAY 8TH, 2007: you will create one word document with a interactive table of contents.

Writting Strategies/Personal Statements 9/26/07

Tell Me About It!!
  1. Email me your h.w.
  2. Download and save the Essay Paragraph Outline
  3. Start reading the Essay Paragraph Outline and be ready to discuss when i get to class.
  4. Download and save the Case Study
  5. Read part 1 of the Case Study. After reading Case part 1, Download the Case Study Questions.
  6. Start answering the Case Study Questions.
  7. Download and save the Paragraph Structure Analysis
HOMEWORK:

  1. Brainstorm for essay
  2. Do Paragraph Structure Analysis worksheet for your first paragraph
  3. Write First Draft

Personal Statements Continute 9/26/07

TELL ME ABOUT IT!! (10 minutes)

1. What makes a good personal statement? explain your answer in a paragraph. Make sure you don't have any msisepleld words.

IN CLASS ACTIVITY: (15 minutes)

1. Download form 2 of the application package from the USC website.
2. Save the pdf file to your flash drive (if you don't know how to save it, ask your neighbor).
3. Take turns reading the form out loud with the members of your group.

PPT PRESENTATION ON PERSONAL STATEMENT (15 minutes)

H.W:

1. Reread the essay part of the form. Write one paragraph on which question you would like to answer and explain why.

Track Changes Tutorial

I am happy to be using this blog with my advance class first. We will be learning Track Changes today. I hope everything goes well. Go to the Microsoft website and follow the instructions on how to download a tutorial on track changes. If you cannot download it from Microsoft website, you may click on the documents below. Download documents to your flash drive.

2. Download wwimporters (world wide importers)

Once you have download the tutorial and the World Wide Importers letter. Start working on the tutorial.
